MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: War-Time Classics in Australia. DESCRIPTION: Eighty thousand people went to Randwick for the Australia Jockey Club Derby. The race was won by "Kairee". Even more people attended the Melbourne Cup to see "Dark Felt" win. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Crowds at stadium, various shots of people, including men & women of the Forces, elevated shot of crowds, incidentally the sun is shining. Cremorne breaks loose in paddock, runs last in race. Horses led out, start, & horses into camera, coming up straight. Race won by Kairee (the Derby). Crowds at Melbourne stadium. Horses led out. The start of the race, rounding bend, coming up straight to be won by Dark Felt.
