- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Russian Triumph - and the Price. DESCRIPTION: Captured German film shows the retreat to the Crimea. They evacuate the Taman peninsular blowing up the railway line as they go. Russian film shows the "ravine of death" on the outskirts of Taganrog, where thousands of civilians were shot. The Soviet’s continue to liberate towns and villages, where re-building is soon taking place. SHOTLIST: Cut story - CU German troops pass camera. GV of them crossing plains & open country. (This is the evacuation of Taman Peninsula). GV Horse drawn carts loaded with Germans, also Russian civilians. GV railway good trucks packed with German troops. Various of German placing dynamite under railway trucks & exploding same in their retreat. Various of explosions. ES of Kerch Narrows - shows docks, transport, horses, troops embarking onto LCI. GV LCI pulling away out of camera. Russian bomber attacks craft etc. German rings alarm bell, Germans at action stations, firing AA guns. Cut-ins Russian plane attacking. CU Stuka in flight, also AVs of formation Stukas dive bomb. AVs of explosions. (All the above is from German Newsreel). GV Taganrog lighthouse. Shots of Russians digging up bodies from "Ravine of Death" carry them away. Various of Russian women crying, demonstrating, waving their arms about, typical Russian. In the Donbas Area, AVs of Mariupol in ruins - houses & plants. Dead Germans in streets, over their guns, in trenches. GV wrecked mine in Sergo. Various of ruined town of Artemovsk & Stalino. Detachment of soldiers through streets of Stalino. Also troops on tanks, crowds cheer & wave, throw bouquets etc. Several shots of types in this story. Night shots of Moscow guns firing salute, also flares & GV of them falling to earth.
