- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Battle of New Guinea. DESCRIPTION: The fight for New Guinea is one of the toughest campaigns of the war. The Australian and American troops have established a friendly relationship with local tribes and this is aiding the fight. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Part of bridge across fast flowing river. Troops (Aussies) cross same. Aussies wade across river, one slips in. LS of trail of Aussies out of camera, pass through the Markham Valley. Elevated pan of hilly country. CU types of natives, clear fields, cut the foliage, so that same may be used for aerodromes. Lightning passes over head, Mitchells spread out on aerodrome. Natives used as couriers and as stretcher bearers. Natives paraded in front of white officers, one being congratulated on bringing in Jap prisoner. Natives through jungle into camera. Various shots of firing of artillery. Aussies advance firing Bren-guns and rifles. Enemy planes dive bomb off coast. LS of explosions on coast.
