MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: ‘Honour the Day’ - Short. DESCRIPTION: Honour the day that ranged America with Britain in the fight for the World’s Freedom. On the anniversary of Pearl Harbour we look at the role of America’s citizens in the war. SHOTLIST: Pearl Harbour. Shots of rising sun. Rays superimposed over US Fleet. Ship ablaze in harbour and structure falling into sea as ship blazes. Shot of Roosevelt making a speech and lines of US sailors marching. Shot of nearly completed ship in yard and men working in aircraft factory. Men & women servicing aircraft on aerodrome. Marching shots of US WAVES, Sailors and British nurses. Good mass shots of US troops in tin helmets. US Troops embarking, fades into map of US. Various shots of them in Tunisia and Sicily. US airmen being briefed and entering Fortresses. Dog also enters plane. Shots of bombs falling. Very good shot of paratroops leaving hatch of plane. TLCs come ashore and transport through jungle. Native rides on bonnet of jeep. US Troops marching in single file along sides of road. Landing craft full of troops and troops rushing up beach. Shots of women waving to Americans. US Ships in line ahead. Shot of Prime Minister and Roosevelt sitting together. Marching shots of British sailors, WRNS, ATS. Fades into shot of them all. US Fleet at sea and line ahead (battleships). Included in this are shots of Fortresses in formation - dropping bombs. Titles zoom up of places bombed (superimposed) over aerial shots. Bremen - Hamburg - Messina, etc. GS of US Destroyer at sea. Also in rough sea. CU US Sailor types and types of WRNS. Roosevelt on bridge with Admiral. US troops march through London. Forts in formation.
