- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Beating the Japs & the Jungle. DESCRIPTION: In the New Guinea co-operation between the Australians and the Americans has produced success. They have fought their way up the coast from Milne Bay to Buna and onto Lee and Salamaua beyond. They have wiped out Japanese machine-gun nests and sniper’s outposts in the jungle. SHOTLIST: Cut story - This story takes place in the vicinity of Milne Bay, Buna, Lae, & Salamaua. Aerial shot of country. Aussies winding their way up hill. Various shots of Aussies making their way through the jungle, a few native bearers being in attendance. Aussies fighting their way, various shots of sniping etc. GS of Aussies cooking their meals. Firing small artillery, machine guns etc. Troops advancing, various shots of Jap dead. Wounded Aussies being brought back on primitive stretchers, crossing bridge made from bushwood, the supports are held by natives, so that the swollen stream won’t carry them away. Blinded Aussies being led across stream (fording), also CU of their feet sinking in mud as they make slow progress.
