Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Germany’s Black Outlook in the Sky. DESCRIPTION: American bombers have been carrying out daylight raids over Germany. The targets of a recent raid were Wilhelmshaven and Munster. All but five of the American bombers returned and there were losses amongst the escorting fighters. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Flying Fortresses in formation. (Library - GS of Forts take off singly). Aerial shot of Liberators in sky. LS. Aerial of FF’s in flight. GS of Thunderbolts take off also singly. Group of four Thunderbolts in flight. Formations of Lightnings, banking, diving etc. - escorting Fortresses which are in formation. Aerial shot of target burning (Wilhelmshaven & Munster). Our fighters in aerial combat, leaving condensation trails. Liberators on fire, leaving trail. American plane (unknown) crashes, explodes in mid-air. Aerial combat material shows many German fighters exploding in mid-air & crashing, (blown-up material - shot with camera gun). Look down shot of FF with half its tail blown off (VG). GS of control over American aerodrome, formation of Fortresses over same returning. MS of smashed wings of FF also of smashed tail on aerodrome. Thunderbolts landing singly, third one crashes on landing finishes right way up though.
