Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: 1,000 Miles of Attack - Russia. DESCRIPTION: The battle of Stalingrad was the turning point in the war on the Eastern front, since then the Germans have suffered defeat after defeat. The city is still in ruins but the Soviet people are beginning the rebuild. Victories have taken place along the 1,000 mile front from Stalingrad, along the shores of the Azov Sea, at Kharkov, Kursk, Orel and all the way to the Dnieper Line. SHOTLIST: Cut story - GS of workers marching through Stalingrad, also elevated shot of city showing tents pitched in all open spaces. Various shots of people of Stalingrad working, clearing rubbish, building brick wall etc. GS in open space, trees background of parade of defenders of Stalingrad including women, being awarded medal & certificates. CU of medals (many) & certificates. Pan of parade, mix to Kuban area, showing artillery of every calibre being fired in open country. Infantry advancing, Russian fighters & bombers in action, German plane crashes, also after crash. Russian fighters in flight into camera, firing their guns, aerial shot strafing railways etc. Bombs falling & explosions from same. Aerial shot of destroyed bridge. Fighters in air combat, firing guns etc. LS of artillery barrage, troops advancing. Troops entering trenches carrying cases out of camera. Camouflaged artillery firing, also rocket type of gun firing, please keep note of this last scene.
