MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: ‘Surrender’. DESCRIPTION: The bulk of the Italian Fleet having surrendered is escorted into Malta by the Royal Navy. On arrival Italian Admiral Dzara came ashore to report to Admiral Cunningham. SHOTLIST: CU of sea. ‘Warspite’, Valiant’ & destroyers steaming along (there maybe Italian ships in the section). Wing-tip of plane in corner of picture. GS of Battleships steaming along. These ships being very close past the camera, but cannot identify as to whether they are British or Italian. Shot of Malta harbour with ships in foreground and close shots of Italian sailors. Shots of a crowded Maltese street and also of Italian Naval officials. Admiral Cunningham shakes with Italian Admiral, LS. Naval inspection. Cunningham walks along with Italian Admiral. Extremely good shots of ships at anchor. CU of name ‘Andrea Doria’ on side of battleships. Shot of black pennant flying from mast of Italian ship and another pan down from mast-head to the name ‘Dvilio’. Another name on side of ship ‘Fugenio Disavoia’. Four Italian sailors stand on ship and pan along row of same. Name-plate ‘Artigliere’. Many of these shots of the fleet are aerial. Cruisers - ‘Eugenio’, ‘Luigi Disavois’, ‘Guiseppe Garibaldi’, ‘Emmanuel Filiberto’, ‘Duca D’Aosta’, ‘Rarmondo’. Destroyers - ‘Alfredo Oriona’, ‘Nicoloricci’, ‘Velite’, ‘Artigliere’, ‘Fucrliere’, ‘Gregole’, ‘Legionaira’. Battleships from Taranto - ‘Dvilio’, ‘Andrea Doria’. Cruisers - ‘Luigi Cadorna’, ‘Pompeo Magna’. Destroyers - ‘Darecco’.
