MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: King With the "Eighth". DESCRIPTION: During his recent visit to North Africa the King visited Tripoli and received a rousing welcome from the troops. His Majesty conferred Knighthoods on General Montgomery and General Wilson and was recorded on film knighting Air Marshal Linnell. SHOTLIST: AFU copyright & RAFFU. Cut story - Shot of columns set up by the Italians, elevated shot of King’s car passing through crowded streets, King shakes hands with unnamed officer he does not get out of his car. King with Montgomery driving through streets lined with troops. Behind the troops can be seen tanks. King inspects Indian Division, presents the VC to Subadar Lalbahadur Thapa (Gurkha officer). Group shot of the King, Montgomery, Maitland Wilson, GS of King knighting Air Marshal Linnell. Car across airfield, back in Tripoli, King visits hospital where he sees several wounded soldiers. King & Montgomery, make their way through the grounds of the hospital. King inspects RAF personnel, also seen in the picture is Sir Sholto Douglas. King driving with Monty through streets in car used in CARD 45094. Field Marshal Monty.
