Summary
[SUBTITLE]: "The Great Silence Filmed. A beautiful record of the Historic Tribute was empictured on last week’s Topical Budget. The opening picture showed the early visitors to the Whitehall Cenotaph - then a fade-in towards that memorable hour on the clock, followed by most impressive vistas of the great multitude thronged round the base of The Cenotaph - hushed and silent in remembrance of The Glorious Dead. One could see several famous politicians and Army leaders in the foreground. Then another flash and ‘The Guards’ standing silently at The Great Salute. In the West End Picture Theatres, the film created a profound impression. ‘Vive Poincaire’ [sic], showing the President at Dover and then at the Guildhall, evoked much enthusiasm, while ‘Kine’-shots of the Victory Ball, showing ‘close-ups’ of footlight favourites in chic costumes added piquancy to the pictures."
