MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Home Guard - Past & Present. DESCRIPTION: The Home Guard formed in May 1940 has become a force to be reckoned with. Trained in all aspects of modern warfare and ready to defend our shores. SHOTLIST: Cut story - CU of Evening News, General shots of interior of houses shows people listening to wireless, Eden speaking over air about LDV. CU of types GS crowd round barn, being given instructions. Shot of guards at post. Elevated shot of LDV paraded. Car passing sentry. Home Guard run through ruined streets, smoke-screens, climb walls, climb across rope bridge slung from windows of houses, over camera shot. Camouflaged soldier under twigs, leaves etc, stands up. Another un-camouflaged soldier in front of a sink, stands walks away, the debris & paper in sink, gets up revealing camouflaged soldier. MS of Trent River Patrol. Elevated shot of troops in barge. GS of speed boat along river. CU Signaller sending message. DR leaving HQ & various shots of Home Guard march past in Hyde Park, to finish.
