- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Secret of the Shangri-La. DESCRIPTION: The US aircraft carrier ‘Hornet’, together with another carrier and escorted by cruisers and destroyers, was the "base" from which Tokyo was bombed. Army pilots flying "Mitchells" took off from the ‘Hornet’ to carry out the raid. SHOTLIST: Cut story - GS of pitching destroyer. Also GS of "Hornet". Several shots of broadsides being fired at Japanese Patrol Boat which is eventually sunk. Group of pilots on flight deck, one of them being Doolittle. GS of "Hornet" rather heavy sea running. Shots of Mitchells taking off. CU & LS & out of camera. Mitchell banking. Aerial shot of Tokyo with smoke rising (this was a practice). Interior shot of Madame Chiang Kai Shek presenting medal pinned on one of the pilots. Pilots seated round table. CU of couple, one of them speaking about the savagery of Japan. The two pilots who speak are: Captain Watson (right) and Captain Lawson (left).
