MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Tunisian Victory - Complete. DESCRIPTION: The drive of the First Army on to Tunis by way of Massienuit was the success that completed the defeat of the enemy in Tunisia. With the support of the Allied Air Power which smashed the Luftwaffe in the air and on the ground. As the First Army neared Tunis the prisoners began coming in and at the town high ranking German officers gave themselves up. The welcome in Tunis was one of extraordinary joy but whilst the celebrating was going on small pockets of resistance still had to be dealt with. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Elevated shot of plains looking toward Tunis. General Alexander & Air Marshal Coningham in car. ‘Massicault’ signpost. Transport along road. CU soldier giving ‘fire’ order & various guns, artillery firing. CU breech. Churchill tanks fire 6 pounder guns, mortars firing. LS Churchill tanks causing dust storm as they move out & into camera. Sherman tank into camera and past. Formation of bombers over Tunis. Damaged docks. Aerial pan of Tunis. Prisoners out of trench & along streets, small ground. Jeep out of camera loaded with prisoners. POW seated on roadside, pan CU types. Italian Naval POW lined up & marched off. Outskirts of Tunis. POW march into camera. Our troops march out, on same road. CU marching feet, prisoners, Bren-carrier following POW. POW through streets of Tunis. German & Italian officers. CU German officer out of car. Group shots. Troops march single file through Tunis. Damaged buildings. Pan of dock VG sunken ships, etc. Interior of framework of hangar VG. Transport through Tunis, crowds cheering, give ‘V’ sign. In leading armoured car is Ward Price. Sherman tanks fires & partially completed block of flats. Out troops sniping, giving wounded water, worried looking woman gives soldier water. Pan of crowds giving ‘V’ sign. Troops bring in POW. Prisoner escorted past burning lorry. Union Jack & French flag with Cross of Lorraine on mast. POW through crowded streets. Transport through streets. CU girl madly kissing & embracing ‘tommy’. CU of Churchill & Roosevelt seated in garden, to finish.
