- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Mussolini’s Pride - Tripoli. DESCRIPTION: Before the war Tripoli was the principal North African base of Italian colonisation. The Duce opened up a beautiful coast road and built a Marble Arch. The Eighth Army has made good use of the road but have no time to stop and admire the Arch. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Aerial shot of Tripoli, also showing harbour. Mussolini & General Balbo with other officials, walk down street into camera, crowds cheering & waving, another shot of Mussolini standing up in car as it drives through street. Mussolini on horse back presented with a sword by an Arab. CU Mussolini with sword over shoulder also waving same. Night shot of Marble Arch showing flares burning around same, Mussolini with others walks through Arch.
