Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: New Guinea. DESCRIPTION: Australian newsreel cameraman Daimen Parer talks about the battle front in New Guinea. Supplies, normally taken into the Owen Stanley mountains by bearer, are now dropped by parachute. SHOTLIST: Cut Story - Aerial shots of Owen Stanley Mountains. Interior shot of Daimen Parer speaking about the war out there. Aerial shots of supplies being dropped for soldiers fighting in jungle, some supplies dropped by parachute. Troops arriving after walking through jungle with supplies, dumping same on ground. Reinforcements through jungles various angle shots. Aerial shot of camp. Cameraman in tree, mortars being fired, soldier firing Bren gun, two others advancing on hut, one hut explodes, they fire their guns into huts as a precautionary measure. Pan of troops lined just back from jungle front, arriving into camera. Minor wounded being treated then setting out again for front on foot. Shot CU of feet in mud. Stretcher bearers carrying wounded through jungle, several shots from various angles VG & over fast running streams. Stretcher bearers carrying wounded through torrential rain, arriving at camp. Two soldiers walking across camp ground in pouring rain. Papuans looking up at Douglas Transport planes dropping supplies.
