MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Russian News Reel. DESCRIPTION: The Soviet submarine which scored hits of the "Tirpitz" has arrived back in port and its commander, Nicholas Loonin, was made a "Hero of the Soviet Union". In the Battle of the River Don the Soviet’s fought heroically to repel the Germans. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Soviet submarine which torpedoed the ‘Tirpitz’. On board same Golovko given awards to crew. CU Golovko handing medal to Nicholas Loonin. Ditto shaking hands. LS Submarine. Interior shots of Kremlin, showing awards being made to heroes of Sebastopol. CU Major General Petrov receiving award. CU Medals on table. Various shots of the River Don. Angle shot of troops on march to front, across barren country. Artillery going along road to front. Tanks in battle. Tanks being taken by train. Goods train going up to front line. Level crossing. Shots of Russian graves, various shots including CUs. CU Women putting flowers on same. Troops paraded round graves, marching past, looking at same, all in full kit. Troops from camera disappearing across large valley, as they march to the front line.
