MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: St Paul’s Cathedral Steps (Anthology in Praise of Britain). DESCRIPTION: Londoners enjoy a lunchtime performance by ENSA on the steps of St Paul’s Cathedral. SHOTLIST: General shot of St Paul’s steps, band on the left playing. Frank Cellier & Mary Clare sitting at bottom of steps. Cellier quoting. Cellier & Clare embrace. Choir singing "It’s a long way to Tipperary". CU Frank Cellier. Cellier walks up steps, at the top he turns to crowds and starts quoting poetry. Cellier at top of steps, with Clare looking up at him. Pan shot of choir on right and crowds. Pan back to Cellier who is holding up his arms, as he quotes. Actors dressed in Crusaders capes & tin hats on steps. Band preparing to play, Sir Henry Wood being conductor. Dame Sybil Thorndike quoting (speaking) CU. Three actresses. Cellier quoting ‘Jerusalem’ & making gestures with his arms. Cellier runs down steps & embraces Mary Clare. Choir singing ‘Jerusalem’. Shots of crowds & also cameramen & sound vans can be seen amongst the crowds. Crowds singing ‘Land of Hope & Glory’. Crusaders walking up steps with Patience (Actress). Pan back to crowd. Crusader & Peace escorts form sort of tableau on steps, band playing ‘Trumpet Voluntary’. Nelson out from behind curtain, kneels & commences praying aloud CU. MS Nelson at top of steps. Cellier & Clare at bottom. Choir with Denis Noble in front singing ‘Drake’s Drum’. Pan from Denis Noble to Nelson. Nelson standing quotes "England expects every man to do his duty" turn round & walks behind curtain. Various shots of crowds. Shot of some AFS singing. CU Henry Ainsley & Sybil Thorndike. Cellier & Clare exit followed by rest of troupe. Shots of crowds. LS of St Paul’s - very good. LS St Paul’s showing buildings in foreground.
