MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Wendell Wilkie in Middle East B.288/B. DESCRIPTION: Wendell Wilkie continues his tour of the Western desert battle-front, on part of which he was accompanied by General Montgomery. SHOTLIST: Car crossing desert over rough road. Wilkie gets out of car. CU Wilkie shaking hands with Monty & other officers. W & Montgomery walking & talking. W&M entering caravan. Soldiers carrying (Wilkie’s presumably) luggage. Outside caravan Mont. on steps. Wilkie at the bottom. W& M looking over a tank, climbing etc. M&W get down & walk out of camera. Officers coming out of hut. Wilkie gets into car CU. M&W & officers in car. Car drives off. W&M looking at tanks, and talking to crew. M&W inspecting men lined up in front of tank. CU Wilkie with Brigadier. W&M in car. W climbing over tank, which is being explained by one of the crew. W climbs down. W shaking hands with officers, troops clapping hands. W putting on hat as he leaves tent. W climbs into plane. CU Wilkie. Plane takes off. W looking through binoculars. Hun plane crashing. Plane on fire (enemy). Plane taxiing across aerodrome. Wilkie shaking hands with officer & men. LS of desert, fires in distance. Soldiers in Jeep, W talking to same. Jeep drives off. Wilkie out of car. CU German gun mounted on a track. CU W climbing over same.
