Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Capture of Solomon Islands. SHOTLIST: Film of how the American Marines re-took the Solomon Islands. Destroyers ploughing their way through rather rough sea, clouds overcast. Warships heaving mightily in heavy seas. Shot from ship ‘Kittyhawk’ flies past at mast head, followed by "Flying Fortress". Troops in invasion barges, Jeep being lowered over side of ship. CU Sailor signalling with lamp. Troops (CU) jumping off barges & running up beaches. Long shot of battleships firing big gun (in bay) another shot of same in a channel. Shot of damaged Japanese camp, pan shot of same. US Marines digging themselves in. Catalina landing on captured aerodrome. Crews standing beside plane. US Flag being hoisted over camp. The above is at the island of Guadalcanal.
