MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Investiture. DESCRIPTION: In an Investiture at Buckingham Palace Commander Robert Ryder received his VC. At the same Investiture Lt Gidden became the first man to hold both the George Medal and George Cross. SHOTLIST: The following were decorated, some Cuts only: Captain R Wilson (Commandos). DSC. Lt Colonel MR Chidson, DSC. Lt Frank Ellington, OBE. Major Courtney, MC, (with dog who has been on raids with him) (Commandos), Lt Ernest Giddon, RNVR, GM and GC. Leaving the palace is seen: VC Commander Robert Ryder RN (St Nazaire) (who holds the Polar Medal). The crowds greet the heroes outside the palace.
