Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: New York Parade. DESCRIPTION: The United Nations Day Parade through the streets of New York is an impressive display. The Parade was watched by Princess Martha of Norway, King George of the Hellenes and the Duchess of Windsor. SHOTLIST: There is a mighty parade in New York. Midshipmen from Annapolis, march and there is a float leaving. Princess Martha of Norway watches the Czecho-Slovak float pass by and Church dignitaries stand outside St Patrick’s. Greece is represented by native costumes and is watched by King George II of the Hellenes and Vice President of America, President Wallace. West Point Cadets represent the army and a float follows symbolising defence of Bataan and Corregidor. There is a motion picture float, watched by the Duchess of Windsor. Nurses too, took part and so did General Lee tanks. The story ends (20ft) with a long focus lens of soldiers wearing the new steel helmets. The fore-shortcoming of this lens makes the shot very impressive. It consists entirely of a sea of soldiers faces, which would come in useful as symbolising American manpower. These above are marching and are excellent.
