Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Street Fighting Exercises Battle School. DESCRIPTION: Britain’s new Army is being turned into the toughest in the world at "Battle Schools". They are put through an Assault Course and given weapon training. Street fighting is also a large part of the training. SHOTLIST: General view of area to be cleared of the enemy. A bomb is planted at rear of house. Troops enter after explosion. Various shots of troops clearing house. Bren-gun party in house firing. Troops arrive in lorries, disembark and take cover. Machine-gun nest in wrecked house. Shot of street as bomb is thrown to clear machine-gun nest. CU of snipers rifle on window. Shot of window showing bullets-splattering on wall. Shot of street as enemy is driven out. Shots of troops crossing stream by wire bridge. One soldier falls in stream. Other obstacles, include a smoke filled pit and barbed wire and a 12ft. wall which has to be scaled. Troops are shown getting through barbed wire. CU of targets. One, a crude head of Hitler, which the men fire at whilst advancing. Other shots include hidden pit and troops negotiating stream, which is covered by a small arch. CU of officer urging the men on. CU of instructor at microphone.
