Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Camera Gun Film. DESCRIPTION: Camera guns are fitted to Spitfires and film during practice runs by fighter pilots. When the film has been developed it is viewed by well-known aces and analysed. SHOTLIST: 1. The camera-gun is fixed in the wing of the fighter. 2. After receiving lecture, young pilots are sent up to practise air combat. As real bullets cannot be used they film their attack. 3. As they land, the film is developed and the results shown on the screen. 4. Wing Commander Campbell-Orde gives instructions to young pilots. 5. Flying Officer Holiday gives last minute instructions about operating camera-gun. 6. Close-up of hand on trigger button. 7. Other shots include, take-off, aerial shots of mock combat, planes landing, mechanic taking out cameras from machine. There are also shots of the revolving drying drum and a WAAF at the cine-projector. General view of the private theatre with flying Aces in front row, with lights out, watching film. Flying Officer Holliday points out faults in the shooting. Then lights go up and Wing Commander Orde asks for an actual combat film, which is projected. General shots of the pilots and Aces talking after show. Other personalities present were: Group Captain Peel, DSO, W/C Gillan, DSO, W/C Jameson, DFC and Bar.
