Summary
Pathe synopsis: The palm trees and Continental-style villas bring mediterranean luxury to Torquay. It’s a place where the Waiters from local hotels get a chance to race through the streets without spilling a drop of wine. Yet the cry is "Vive Les Anglais" on Paignton Green when the gleaming veteran cars line up for a "Concourse d’Elegance". The Bikini Set flock to the beaches and secluded coves while the history-seekers cast their nets in the fishing village at Brixham. There’s 20 miles of coastline to explore in Torbay - the new three-in-one resort along the south Devon coast. For stars like Max Bygraves and Lionel Bart it’s a place to relax while Val Doonican, Syd James and Arthur Askey are appearing in summer shows. Pathe Pic cameras catch them taking it easy on the golf course - with hilarious results. And holiday time is Carnival time. Away from the rural charm of Cockington Village, it’s the big band and candy floss occasion. A cavalcade with star quality that could be happening on the "Boulevard des Anglais".
