- Summary
- Pathe synopsis: Sky Mountain sets the the scene for our dream journey. From here a characteristically Scandinavian panorama unfolds before us - the Lake District of Denmark, a land where fairy-tales always seem to come true. They take a pride in preserving their past in Denmark, like the 100-year-old paddle steamer which still chugs through the lakes. And from here we go to the old town of of Odense, where the man who did so much to foster and enhance the legend was born. Hans Christian Anderson. His house recalls his memory, but the fairy-tales haven’t died with him. Deep in the farm lands of Jutland at Billund they’ve created a new dream world - a ten acre model village they call Legoland. Every knee-high building is made entirely from tiny bricks - millions and millions of bricks in all. Bricks that children themselves use for their own playtime constructions. There’s a rural English town here - and a jet-age City of the Future. And the little electric trains have a big brother version to give you a ride round this landscaped-land of make-believe. Here, too, is a pint-sized traffic complex where the children learn real-life traffic hazards while driving dynamo-powered cars. Danish schools are already sending classes for tuition here, which goes to prove how useful some fairy-tales can be.
