Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Tobruk Today. DESCRIPTION: Troops new inhabit the battered remains of buildings in Tobruk. A small number of nurses, belonging to the Hadfield Spears Hospital Unit are in the town tending wounded brought back from the battle zone. SHOTLIST: Shots of sign-post on way to Tobruk "To Let" notice outside some of the caves. A traffic MP stands at cross-roads directing traffic. Shots of mail-bags for the soldiers in Tobruk which is being sorted at the Post Office. Shot of men in blitzed buildings taking it easy and one man takes a real bath with plenty of water. They visit the "Seven O’Clock Club". There is a view of the damaged church also interior shots of same. There are shots of ATS girls taking a stroll by the sea and checking over one of the ambulance engines. They also do their own washing. Shot of enemy captured gun with some of the AA boys, seen taking it easy in their gun-pits, reading and writing. Shots show them about to deal with one of the occasional alerts. WO N231/B1 Note - Lavender wound in with cuts does not belong to this story. GVs tent with aerials. SCU radio aerials. Pilots climb into small flying boat. Take off. Various shots of looking for airman down in the drink. Pilot sees him and points. Plane touches down. Man pulled into plane. Plane in flight. Man lifted from plane and taken to ambulance. Pilot is in rubber dinghy.
