Summary
Pathe synopsis: Come to an African kingdom, completely surrounded by South Africa. Basutoland as it was, now Lesotho, a proud, poverty-stricken kingdom entirely surrounded by the riches and the race relations of South Africa. See how it’s working out. This is a mountain country without roads and where a single thunderstorm can tear away acres of over-cropped top-soil. It is a country, too, of scenic beauty, flashing streams, friendliness and zest and a determination to forge for themselves a place in the modern world. It is the latest African country to have had over a year of independence. It is the first where the people have no resentment, in spite of neglect. It is a hopeful, colourful review and one that seems significant.
