- Summary
- Pathe synopsis: The past plays an important part, here, too. Imitation sphinxes, prehistoric monsters, and a few broken statues are the last remains of that most controversial of Victorian ventures, the Crystal Palace, which burnt to the ground in 1936. But a new glass palace has taken its place. The Crystal Palace National Recreation Centre at Sydenham, London, offers almost everything for sportsmen, from an amphitheatre stadium and sports hall, to an eleven-storey hostel for visiting athletes. There’s an artificial ski-slope too.
