Summary
Pathe synopsis: Who’d have believed that the very respectable Automobile Association started as a motorists’ mutual protection society - against the police! "Pic" takes a trip back to those days to see the 1905 AA man complete with deer-stalker, Norfolk Jacket, gaiters and bone-shaker bicycle tipping off pioneer motorists that speed traps are round the bend. And at Widmerepool Hall, Notts, the AA’s Patrol Service Training Centre they treasure all the trappings of the Model-T days, and they keep well ahead of today’s technology, because this is where the AA patrolman picks up his engineering expertise, in cutaway engines that develop faults at the touch of a switch. Spectacularly realistic mock-accidents teach the AA man how to treat tragedy on the road. And now the day of the salute and motorcycle combination has gone it’s AA mini-vans all the way.
