- Summary
- Pathe synopsis: We fly to Israel, land of the seas, where the ever-present past beckons the visitor at every turn. In sixty years, Tel-Aviv has grown from a one-street village into Israel’s largest city. A day’s driving can take you to the country’s farthest borders, to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, and to Ein Gedde’s tumbling streams and waterfalls, an oasis of greenery under the scorching sun. And there are pockets of growth and colour in the arid Negev Desert, where the dominating rock of Massada is a stopping-place for every traveller intent on exploring Israel’s history. Eilat is Israel’s southern finger-tip on the Red Sea but it is the Sea of Galilee which opens up more chapters of the New Testament. Tiberious, the Mount of Beatitudes are around its shores but the final journey to the Holy City itself, Jerusalem, and a glimpse at the Shrine of the Book, is an impressive climax for any visitor.
