- Summary
- Pathe synopsis: The bright lights - and we’re in San Francisco, where Chinamen, Beatniks and a whole invasion of flamboyant foreigners made this the place that set Hollywood as an example. Everyone’s an actor in California and every setting you see is a film set. From the Golden Gate to the Mexican Market in Los Angeles: from the thundering freeways to the aerial tramway at Palm Springs that takes you to the film stars’ hide-away homes. We see Hollywood’s yachting harbour at Newport, in Orange County: we see the film studios. We go to a football match where marching majorettes put our foot-guards to shame with their precise drill movement and we begin to see why, even if Hollywood was non-existent, California itself would be spectacular and fabulous.
