Summary
Pathe synopsis: See a man plotting. Meet an unobtrusive army of men who spend their time spying out the land and plotting - maps. We are the world’s map-makers and to make the printing plates the Ordinance Survey use the biggest camera you’ve ever seen - one bigger than a fair-sized room. This photographic equipment at Southampton is unique and we see their printing press, manufactured in Leeds, that turns out 5000 detailed and accurate coloured maps an hour. We realise that if we hadn’t been famous for anything else map-making would have been enough to put Britain on the map...
