Summary
Pathe synopsis: Come to Jerez, the sun-baked home of sherry and those slim, trim fighting bulls that are bred on this southern Spanish chalkland. This is the vine harvest when the grapes are blessed and the first fruits are trodden with cowhide-and-spiked-iron pressing boots. There’s a skirl of bagpipes mingling with the Flamenco music of guitars and castanets for this fiesta is dedicated to Scotland. The old families who own the great wine bodegas - many of them British - always invite distinguished guests from one of the countries that has made sherry part of its life - and seven out of every ten bottles produced find their way to Great Britain. Traditionally, brave bulls are pardoned and sent to live their lives out back at the ranch. Then on to the wine and dancing of the soft fiesta night.
