- Summary
- Pathe synopsis: Does the beckoning warmth of a Mediterranean bay invite your imagination to visualize a life of relaxation, and gaiety and sunshine? There is a hint of history and wealth in every streetside symbol, for this is the fairytale land of Monaco, less than one square mile of it, where millionaires meet to indulge in almost every luxury money can buy. Yet you can drift away across the 20th-century intrusion and visit Vallauris, just a few kilometres across the border in neighbouring France. The pottery craftsmen here are proud of their timeless traditions as well as the memory and inspiration of the legendary Picasso who once lived and worked here. It’s even hard to believe that nearby Eze Village was once a medieval fortress. Time, of course, has erased the bitter memories and now it is a paradise for those who care to paint and explore the exotic cacti garden. Wherever you go nobody can deny that this coastline is a tourist’s dream - and nowhere more so than back in Monaco itself. But it is more than just a haven for holiday makers, it has a great attraction for foreign business organisations who want to take advantage of the tax concessions, and the bull-dozers dig deeper and the skyscrapers rise higher as the demand for offices and flats grows daily.
