Summary
Pathe synopsis: A horse tram and a cow-catching locomotive of the naughty nineties introduce us to New York, the city where they fill any free land-plot they’ve got with such tourist-trade reminders of their Yankee-doodle past. We then land by helicopter under the shadow of the skyscrapers, downtown Manhattan. Quickly we discover New York as a city of islands and surprises. We take a boat round the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan Island itself after first discovering the isolated "islands" - Harlem, Chinatown and Greenwich Village - that add up to New York. A baseball game and the fabulous billion-dollar building of next year’s New York World Fair adds to our picture as we prepare to drive through the winking night-lights of the city, waiting for dawn over the waterfront when it’s time to say - good night.
