- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Rangoon. DESCRIPTION: Rangoon, the capital of Burma, has already suffered badly from bombing. Fighter pilots originally trained to help the Chinese defend the Burma Road, now go into action against the Japanese again. SHOTLIST: Scenes on the town showing the Pagodas and the docks, where goods are being unloaded. Air Raid shelters are being built and a train arrives at a station bringing refugees. They are met by Sir Reginald Dorman-Smith and Sir Paw Tun, the Burmese Premier. Shots of raid damage is inspected by Sir Dorman and also a rest centre and the local AFS station. There are several Jap planes for the populace to see and nearby, pilots of the American Volunteer Force play handball and then race to their Tomahawks and take off. Shots through trees of a Blenheim. A very impressive shot of a man, a refugee, weeping, holding a child in his arms. This child has lost his mother in a recent raid. This very good shot has been used in the "Empire Aid" short, but still appears in the Sound Lav & Neg.
