Summary
Pathe synopsis: For instance, in the depths of an English forest stands a lovely silver birch. Beautiful in its natural surroundings, yet, someone thought, would it not seem more delightful on a rubbish-covered bomb site? And they set about developing a new-style trailer which could transport fully-grown trees along muddy cart tracks, through fields, and along busy roads, to their new homes. The labour of half-a-dozen men, the use of car and trailer, miles of travel - it all adds up to a lot of effort even to pretty-up an eyesore. Yet everyone concerned thinks it worth it.
Researcher Comments
Introduction: The things they do for beauty! It seems extraordinary, sometimes, the lengths people will go just to get an effect which pleases the eye.
