Summary
Pathe synopsis: Mechanically speaking, something of an oddity - being a self-propelled railway vehicle with a 65 hp petrol engine - but its efficiency has to be seen to be believed. The first of its kind to be used by British Railways, it is officially known as a Track Recording Trolley, and it is used for detecting and recording faults on the line. 25 miles of track can be recorded in one hour and any irregularity pinpointed to within 3 or 4 sleepers so that maintenance gangs can go straight to the seat of the trouble instead of spending days measuring and searching.
