- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Scenes Inside Tobruk. DESCRIPTION: The gallant defenders of Tobruk are drawn from men of Britain, Australia and India and their spirit is indomitable. The "Bush Artillery" is an improvised unit, composed mainly of cooks, who fire captured Italian guns. SHOTLIST: The name of the place is scratched in the sand with a bayonet and the water comes up and covers it (very symbolic!). The wreck-strewed harbour is used for bathing while Bren Guns guard from air attack. The town is a mass of wreckage but the paper is still issued. A dog mounts guard while his master shaves and a donkey and a mule are looked after. Guns go into action and a scratch unit of cooks fire captured Wop guns. An oil dump and ammunition store are hit and blow up. There are three excellent close ups of the types manning the defences. Indian, British and Australian.
