- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Hun at War. Section 1. DESCRIPTION: The British Newsreel Association in co-operation with the Ministry of Information presents these grim pictures in the sense of essential duty to the British public. SHOTLIST: German tanks advance accompanied by lorry borne troops. Through blazing towns and villages they go. Dive Bombers Ju87 and Ju88 take off. Aerial scenes show Junkers diving and destroying planes with cannon fire and bombing towns and roads. Machine guns and flare throwers aid the advance while a German soldier films. A trailer was attached to this story demanding more planes and more tanks. Cuts: The Hun At War: Reel 1 Can 6617 Germans march past POWs. Infantry advancing. Ruined bunkers. Tanks advance - various. Tanks in wheatfield - fires etc. POW in line. Germans out of tanks. Large guns fire. Troops advancing. Russians with white flags. German officers survey scene. Broken bridge - Russians climbing down rope from bridge. Germans street fighting. POW line - some wounded. Hundreds of POWs sit in field. Various close ups. POW line moves off. Ack Ack - plane hit and crashes to earth. Wreckage on ground. Aerials of bombing (badly scratched). Reel 2 Can 6618 Finland border post. Germans crossing borders in cars and on motor bikes. Guns fire and a direct hit on a chimney which falls. POW on march. Tanks into blazing village. Reel 3 Can 6646 German bombers take off - interior of bombers. Aerials of devastation. Germans through city - people welcome them. Women crying - dead bodies being carried out from building - pan of dead bodies - women wailing over bodies. People being jostled by crowds. Stalin’s portrait being destroyed. German bombers in flight. German tanks firing. Gun fires and a direct hit on a tank. Russian POWs at the double. Blazing vehicles. Tanks advance. Germans fighting in village. Direct hit on tank. Various guns being fired by Germans. Burning vehicles. Large explosion. Guns firing - short range. Tanks advance. Pan over blazing wreckage. Thousands of Russian POWs. Various CUs. Reel 4 Can 6622 Planes warm up. Bombing up. Take off - Air to air attack. Planes on ground being shot up. Aerial combat - planes dive to earth. Guns firing. Motorised units over ploughed fields. Women giving flowers to troops. Wrecked armour by roadside. Germans street fighting. People cheer and clap troops. Plane takes off. Ju88 dive bombing. Guns firing - various. Wrecked tanks. Germans on the march. Flame throwers used. Cavalry through streets - given flowers. Guns fire and direct hit on farmhouse - tremendous explosion. Street fight. Germans using loud hailer to tell people to surrender. German Newsreel cameramen in action. Troops pass blazing buildings. Troop covered tanks along road.
