Summary
Silently, sadly they kept watch over him in New York’s St Patrick’s Cathedral. Senator Robert Kennedy, a man who aspired to the summit of greatness had died along that noble route, victim of an assassin’s bullet. Many thousands, representatives of the entire mourning American nation, filed past the coffin. The rich, the poor, negro and white - they came on this sad summer day to weep, to pray, to mourn, to pay homage. From New York to Washington, to Arlington Cemetery, where, in a deeply moving ceremony, Robert Kennedy was laid to rest near the brother he loved and admired so much and who had shared the same dreadful fate 4 1/2 years earlier.
