MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Scars of London. DESCRIPTION: Their Majesties continue to visit the people in bomb damaged areas. Guy’s Hospital - The hospital suffered badly. Dean Street - The house next door to Movietone’s HQ was hit. Park Lane - Houses in Hamilton Gardens off Park Lane. County Hall Oxford Circus - The large shops in Oxford Street have been hit. West End Stores - Auxiliary Firemen fight blaze at John Lewis Stores. The Strand - Traffic in the Strand carries on despite bomb craters. SHOTLIST: King and Queen Visit Fulham And Chelsea Their Majesties make a tour of the damage and are introduced to ARP personnel. Crowds cheer. King and Queen at Madame Tussaud’s Various shots of the King and Queen looking at the ruined cinema. One shot shows effigies of Hitler and Goebbels and Goering. Guy’s Hospital Various shots of the ruined hospital. Dean Street Shots of 20th Century Fox Building and the ruined house just behind. Park Lane Shots of the crater in Hamilton Gardens and the nearby broken windows. County Hall Shots of the damaged building and also cuts showing holes in the face of Big Ben. Oxford Circus Wreckage is piled up in the roadway under the damaged corner of Messrs. Peter Robinson’s store. John Lewis Auxiliary firemen play their hoses on the still blazing wreckage while others removed dummies from the mess. A sailor gives the firemen some tea. Strand Traffic passes the huge crater in which workmen are busy. Church in background (Temple). Northern Slogans Shots of posters after a Northern store had been badly damaged by the bombs. Business as usual signs. Also some censored scenes of the Marble Arch and nearby damage, and Bond Street.
