Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Realm Remains Resolute. DESCRIPTION: Buckingham Palace is bombed whilst Their Majesties were absent. The King and Queen continue to tour districts damaged in air raids. The words of Mr Churchill’s stirring speech are heard over pictures of raid damage and civilian fortitude. SHOTLIST: The King and Queen inspect damage to Buckingham Palace. King and Queen viewing damage and talking to people - good shots. Queen plays with black cat. Various shots of the ruins of London - Regent Street - Burlington Arcade etc. Good shots of ARP clearing ruins. AFS playing hoses on ruins. People leave home with belongings - pan up to Union Jack. Hospital ruins. Ruined houses - very good shots of ruins. Churchill with crowds in ruined streets. King Inspects Air Raid Damage - CARD 39708 King arrives at Metropolitan Police Supply Depot at Juxon Street, Lambeth and chats with ARP workers who worked during raid. Extensive damage was done, including railway arch which King inspects for himself. King leaves. Nearby householders cheer. RE’s clear debris. King And Queen Tour Bombed Areas - CARD 39719 Various shots of King and Queen touring the Bombed areas in London. Various shots of crowds. DA Bombs In West End - CARD 39721 Various shots of the damage done in West End bombing.
