Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: British Expeditionary Force Boys Return. DESCRIPTION: Smoke hangs over Dunkirk as the Navy works by night and day to bring the men of the BEF home. The men are in confident mood as they arrive back on home ground. SHOTLIST: LS & GV Dunkirk on fire, taken from sea. Excellent shots of troops transferred from one ship to another. Troops climb from small craft to large ship. Shot of them climbing up sides. Excellent shots of troops being dragged up sides and over onto deck of large ships. GV thousands of troops giving ‘thumbs up’. WVS women hand out food and drink to troops. Troops pile into railway carriage. CU soldiers leaning out of railway carriage, smiling etc. Troops fed through windows of train. Soldier writing postcard home. CU soldier with drink in hand to finish. BEF Home From Dunkirk Smoke covers the skyline from blazing Dunkirk. Soldiers and wounded are transhipped. At many ports, transports arrive and the men disembark. They travel by train to station where food has been prepared on the platform. They are not downhearted, many have brought back souvenirs. They eat and drink.
