Summary
Prime Minister Attlee accompanied by Foreign Secretary Bevin arrives at Berlin airport to attend final session of the Big Three Conference. At the Cecilienhof Palace Attlee confers with Truman and Stalin on the terms of Germany’s future - no army, navy or air force, no arms industry, reparations to be paid. In Plymouth Sound on the battle cruiser "Renown" the King has his first meeting with President Truman, and a guard of honour of Royal Marines parades for inspection. After lunching aboard "Renown" Truman returned to the "Augusta" and it was on this ship that the King made a return visit to meet Truman again. The King then returned to "Renown" accompanied by Lord Halifax and watched "Augusta" leave for the US.
