- Summary
- Officers and men of the 6th Airborne Division after being decorated by the King. The Queen and two Princesses at the Heritage Craft School for Disabled Children at Chailey receive gifts, and look round the Home. (Princess Elizabeth is seen holding one of the children). Britain’s Atlantic liners are being used as troopships to transport American servicemen back home. From Greenock the "Queen Elizabeth" heads out to sea en route to New York. On a similar mission the "Queen Mary" sails towards New York harbour. The "Aquitania" is also seen pulling into the harbour. Overhead shot shows large number of troops on deck of Queen Mary. General Eisenhower arrives by plane in Washington to be greeted by his wife before receiving civic welcome from the capital. In New York he is given the inevitable ticker-tape welcome as he drives through crowded streets in open car.
