Summary
Chief Petty Officer Hime, 60 years old, is the first man to be demobbed from the Royal Navy. He is seen saying goodbye to his CO. Another naval man Petty Officer Manning goes through the demob procedure and is issued with civilian clothes. Soldiers in the first demob groups assemble at the Released Embarkation Camp at Ostend. They are the last-war veterans and younger men are seen embarking on the same boat on their way to join a draft for Burma. The Isle-of-Man steamer puts out from Ostend to deliver the men of the BLA who will go through the same demob procedure. At Uxbridge the first Air Force members to be demobbed collect their pay and civilian clothes. (Stunt shot of pair of boots being removed from man’s feet with steam coming from the boots).
