- Summary
- Fog Investigation Dispersal Operation system in operation, with aircraft landing. It consists of continuous lines of petrol burners close to the sides of aerodrome runways. Their job is to generate the intense heat required to disperse the moisture from fog over air strips. The first operational use of FIDO was in November 1943, and what it meant to British and American airmen can be heard from interviews with Air Vice Marshal Bennett and Mr Geoffrey Lloyd the inventor of FIDO.
