- Summary
- Remagen Bridge as the Germans left it standing - but only just. American advance columns were able to make their dash over the Rhine and then with Engineers working against time to keep it standing it collapsed. Three hundred men were working on it all the time and rescue operations began immediately to recover men from the River, piers and girders on which they fell, but many were killed and injured.
