Summary
Christmas mail for the US Navy. Out at sea, sacks of mail are slung by breeches buoy from ship to ship. Christmas greetings for the army goes through the Military Post Office and thousands of letters and parcels are dealt with for the troops ‘over there’. Belgian girls work as postal sorters in this British Army Post Office. In Holland, members of a Canadian Forestry Unit chop trees for yule logs. Christmas trees are not forgotten and they are carried to a hospital where wounded British soldiers get together with the nurses to decorate the trees. Christmas parcels arrive at a camp near the front and the soldiers waste no time in opening and sampling the contents. Dutch children at a St Nicholas Day party are waited on by British soldiers. General Eisenhower addressing representatives of the allied forces on Christmas Day, then an American soldier, a British sailor, a Canadian soldier and a French soldier speak and send their messages home, with introductions by Eisenhower.
